Southern Sportsman race 2 in the books and the recoed books were opened and ripped a part
Southern Sportsman converged on Fayetteville WV at the all new HILLBILLY RACEWAY saturday morning
we had new track new people to meet and new friend to make
First thing we need to do is thank Charlie and his family for for a great day and some really good chili
Garys wife for some melt in your mouth brownies
We had 3 new racers to join us Sam ,Dave and Charlie it was great to meet you all and hope we get to see you all soon
most of the racer showed up about 10 am an practice started rebuilds and a whole bunch of tweekin started
the boys from WV where there till 4am trying to get all the bugs worked out and a set of IROC cars finished for the days racin
the race that started it all was Southern Sportsman these car are jl/aw cars that are set up in a ECHORR/FRAY style car with slip-on tires and unbalanced arms
with NASCAR bodys from LIFE LIKE , TYCO AND BRP bodys with body post installed these cars are a blast to drive and over the past few years have become so fast and handle like a true race car we have them tuned to the point they can give a good ECHORR/FRAY a race for the money laps and lap times are with in hundredths of each other
the racers lined up and the race was on 5 MINUTE HEATS The battle for the lead stared right out of the box with Gary showing he is a Championship contender he and kevin started puttting laps on the field right away and never looked back at the last lane of rotation came kevin and gary were tied same lap. we race with pentaltys for wrecks you loose a lap for each and as the race went on there were a few to many for some the new Hillbilly Raceway took a bite from a few and knocked them out
the whole field was so close that it change the finishing order when the dust cleared gary was 1 lap up on kevin but after wrecks deducted kevin won buy 5 laps
so it does pay to stay on the track
The second race was Southern Muscle these cars are ECHORR/FRAY with muscle car bodys so we had GTOS CAMAROS MUSTANGS CHALLENGERS they look so cool going around the track . This race was just like the first but this is a marshalled race and 4 minute heats and battles going on all over the track there were car that were so fast in the straights they were hard too see cars that so smooth you did not hear them coming whe the smoke cleared and the chilli gas was past kevin won going away with new comer Dave Jordon coming in 2nd
Third race was owners choice and Charlie decided to have an IROC they were gen 7 auto world t-jets stone stock out of the boxs with willys bodys and omg
i think we all laughed so hard every one had tears in there eyes one car just flew could not knock it off the track another was so fast and free it set track records
one would drive straight off the corner if you did not slow down at the right time it was just a blast not have to worry about car set up just race a few of the boy jsut drove their buts off some just tryed to keep them on the track in the end it came down to gary skylar and mike and gary pulled a win out of his hat by 2 laps
again it was a great race on a new track with some old friends and new good food great racin what more could you ask for
