Saturday the SOUTHERN SPORTSMAN gang came together in Charleston SC at TONY'S MONSTER MOTORPLEXfor race 3 of the season.
Doors opened at 8am racers started to arrive shortly after we had not seen the tracks since MAY so it was great to see what kind of horse power we could put down with the new slip on tire combos. First off we need to thank Tony for opening the doors and welcoming us back. We had 9 racers that made the trip. Everyone practiced on both tracks till about 12pm then a quick drivers meeting and we were ready to get our race on.
First up SOUTHERN MUSCLE (ECHORR/FRAY cars with modern and old muscle cars) TOMY 6 lane we ran 4 Min's per lane when the race ended kevin and mike were 6 feet apart 3rd through 5Th was about 8 feet apart after 24 Min's of racing that is just amazing what a race i think that is the closest race we have had ever
Next up was SOUTHERN SPORTSMAN cars on the 24x 4 6 lane TKO oval these boys figured out how to hook up slip-on tires in a hurry. What a race door banging these things were flying and some times they really did go flying
when this race was over Kevin was ahead of Chris by less than 2 feet but after penalties Chris won buy 1 lap great run Chris
By the way we were only 1 tenth off times we ran with stickies
The last race of the day was an INDY car IROC which may have been the most fun
in the out side lane we had a car that was smoking fast but did not handle the best you had to watch how you went into the corner
next car was just smoking every body laped the field at least 4 times when they ran it
the next 2 car handle great but needed a little more speed so you had to drive all 4 car different what i think it was a true IROC when all the racin was done Gary had 5 laps or more on the field

Thanks to all that traveled specially Dave 9 hours is a long drive we were glad you came.
There was talk on and off all day about doing a BAG-O-PARTS race again since time and jobs did not allow it to happen in May i will check in to it and may have to change venues and dates but i will see if i can get it together
